Polres Metro Jakarta Timur conducted a pre-reconstruction of the case involving the death of Kenzha Ezra Walewangko (22), a student at the Indonesia Christian University (UKI). The police, led by Kombes Nicolas Ari Lilipaly, could not yet conclude the presence of a gang assault in the student’s death.”The lack of evidence is what hinders our investigators. Until now, there is no evidence of a gang assault,” said Lilipaly to reporters after the pre-reconstruction at the UKI campus in Cawang, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (March 26, 2025).
Seventy scenes were reenacted by witnesses during the pre-reconstruction. These scenes depicted the sequence of events from when the victim arrived at the campus reading park until being taken to the hospital.”Around 50 reenactment scenes were performed, with additional lettered scenes totaling around 70 related to this case,” Lilipaly added.
The purpose of the pre-reconstruction was to shed light on the death of Kenzha Walewangko and gather evidence to determine the existence of criminal acts. The police are cautious in their approach to avoid hasty conclusions or wild assumptions. Lilipaly emphasized the importance of upholding the law and relying on data and facts to prevent injustice.
Family members and relatives of Kenzha Walewangko attended the pre-reconstruction. The victim’s cousin, Praicy Tania Tewu, expressed the family’s hope for a thorough investigation and urged UKI to be transparent in the process.
In response, Hulman Panjaitan, the Vice Rector for Academic and Innovation at UKI, affirmed the university’s support for the police investigation. The university aims for a just resolution to bring closure to the victim’s family and prevent similar incidents from occurring on any campus in Indonesia.”
